The Annual Queer Youth Awards recognizes and celebrates the leadership skills and achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth and young adults. This program creates positive visibility for queer youth and their contributions to the community. This annual event is held each spring, and includes an award ceremony, banquet dinner, and dance.

Santa Cruz Area Radical Faeries facilitates a variety of social activities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth and young adults ages 14 and up. Programs are designed to promote self-esteem, prevent depression and substance abuse, and develop leadership skills. Activities include dances, beach parties, and a summer camp. Activities are coordinated in partnership with the UCSC GLBT Resource Center.

STRANGE is a project of the UCSC GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender) Resource Center. This program consists of a countywide network of queer high school students and Gay/Straight Alliance high school club members, and is open to all queer, questioning, and straight/ally youth. The goal of STRANGE is to end isolation of Santa Cruz County queer and questioning youth and their families and to build self esteem, leadership skills, and a sense of community. Activities include movie nights, dances, beach parties, leadership training workshops, and an annual queer youth prom. Free transportation is generally provided.
